Our new home has a heavenly fragrance this night! We spent the day in Pasadena and discovered the gothic dream of a gallery, Gold Bug! The shop is a fantastical collection with variety that enchants at every turn. The friendly proprietors are former Seattlites, as well. We purchased for ourselves a new house gift that is the Manifest Destiny Hunter's Reign candle. A blend of Bourbon - Moss - Leather and Pouch Tobacco. It smells earthy, fresh and clean. A lovely transition to fall. We are ready after the endless summer of moving.

Sena Gjelina

Smack dab in the middle of our California house hunting extravaganza was Sena's 18th Birthday.

At the suggestion of brother, KJ, we celebrated among gorgeous hipsters at Gjelina.

It was spectacular, organic, and lovely. There was a shady alley with a canopy of bougainvilleas. The starters included burrata, peperonata, anchovy, mint pesto with croutons, followed by a board of divine artisanal cheeses.

New Year's Ball - Etsy Vintage

A few weeks ago the GOOP newsletter featured a medley of holiday cards with a tartan theme and I can't get it out of my head. When we were kids, my mom made a slew of tartan bows to decorate our tree and I don't remember anything as pretty! The vintage shops on Etsy are full on with tartan and taffeta for a happy new year!

Don't Ask, Tell Me it's Vintage

Reading all the exciting news today about DADT and the revision to the new GI Bill in Huffington Post this morning, I came across a lovely photo of the first family with stylish first lady, Michelle Obama, dressed in a beauty vintage 1950s black lace dress by Norman Norell. I have reposted this article by Lesley M.M. Blume, contributing style editor at HuffPo. Lesley writes that the dress is procured from New York Vintage.
